Which Upgrade Product?
I have got GW:GOTY edition, but want to get a new product/upgrade but cannot figure out which...
Will it simply tack onto my existing game? I will take advantage of the "eye of the north" offer too... So, Factions or Nightfall? |

That depends on how you play. Factions has a slow start, but will prove somewhat challenging for level 20 characters from the beginning, while characters from Nightfall can go to Eye of the North much faster than characters from any of the other campaigns.
Factions and Nightfall both have PvE skills for each profession, while Eye of the North has shared PvE skills for all professions. Nightfall and Eye of the North both have Heroes, which are customizable Henchmen. Factions does not have Heroes, and it makes it much easier for experienced players if they have Heroes. Whatever you choose, the campaign and the expansion will be added to your account, so you have access to the new parts of the game, as well as the original content. Personally, I would say Nightfall, since it is my favourite campaign, and since it has Heroes. |

Factions.
Factions contains the ritualist and the assassin class which are among the best PvE classes in the game. You have access to Save Yourself, without which the Nightfall classes are worth only half their worth. You obtain Assassin's Promise which allows you to abuse the GWEN PvE skills on a level that no other elite can match. And you obtain access to Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry AND Alliance Battles which are among the most fun casual content added to GW. Pretty much the only selling point to Nightfall are heroes - which you also get in GWEN, certain skill - which sadly you'll miss on, BUT SY! and AP are THE single best skills for physicals and casters in the game and they can be both obtained in Factions and you'll miss out on some OBSCENELY gorgeous characters that are only available in Nightfall. |

If you buy from the in-game store it will be added to your existing account. If you buy a retail boxed copy, be sure to add to your existing account and not create a new account.
As for which one...get both! (yeah, I can't pick one. lol) |

I would go with factions. Factions doesnt seem to have a story that wants to make you head just rip off your shoulders and throw itself out of a window like NF does. Its a bit shorter in the long run but much more understandable story-plot wise. The NF heros i do have to say are nice and can make life a breeze but so can the EOTN heros so if your going to get either one id go with Factions.(also you can be a productive member of your allaince and DTSC or MQSC all day x) )

Personally, Nightfall.
With all the heroes from Nightfall and EoTN you will be able to create a formidable team with you heroes much easier than the just the EoTN ones. For me, factions only offers 2 advantages over Nightfall:
And with Shadowform soon to be nerfed, and spamming SY isn't needed to do areas in Hard Mode, go for Nightfall. |

if you are wanting to go for another expansion of gw i'd personally go with nightfall cuz the addition of getting all three necros to be able to set up sabway hero team has helped my warrior vanq most and get through hm very easily.
if you are wanting to know which "add-on" bonus type stuff to get i'd go with the bonus mission pack. as the missions are easy and its an easy and cheap effective way of getting all your heros decent skinned weps that are all max and free. and ofcourse you can use the weps too for any character on your account that does the bonus missions. |

true the storyline is shorter and sweeter, but the areas in factions are mind numbing i cant stand the city where the maps dont help at all whether they are above below or around. the sewer is even more annoying, and the kurzick jungle is just a mess. so if you want a game you can ENJOY playing vs's getting a game you hate to go to except just to get skills LOL which has been my experience with factions, GO FOR NIGHTFALL

Not a story no but it sure has a reason. One word: Danika. I would go for Nightfall,Factions is nice if you want to level a character quickly,But Nightfall is great because of the Heroes. |

When it comes to heroes, keep in mind you can only have 3 heroes at a time.
With GWEN you get Xandra that you can use as a spirit spammer but you can do that ONLY if you have Factions and that is a super option, you can use Vekk as an ER protter and those represent 2 of the best hero options in the game. And then you only have room for one more hero - and that slot can easily be filled with Livia. If you don't have Factions you can't run a restoration necro nor can you run Discord, which brings up the question - what is the OP even going to run on his heroes without Factions? 3 SF eles? |

Buy both. It's not a huge investment of money, and you will have hundreds (or thousands) of hours of gameplay. If I'd known how much time I would be spending on GW I would have bought every game at release, and bought the collectors editions.
Personally, I think Prophecies has the best storyline, but all four are pretty decent. As you go later in the game (i.e. Proph -> Factions -> Nightfall -> EotN) there is a greater emphasis on achievements and grinding, but as other people have said there are a lot more skills, etc. |

IMO Factions is the better choice. i've played through nightfall a few times and although the story is good (some people say better than factions) i don't really feel very attached to the characters. the heroes are definetley a good addition but i just don't come back to elona often enough, i played through the storyline and gave up hope of getting into DoA. i don't come back to factions very much either however i personally like the story, setting and world better. you also get AB which you might love or hate, as well as FA and JQ. factions can be used as easy powerleveling and has more useful skills (although nightfall has just as good if not better skills). anywho i could go on for ages but this is all my opinion

If you are planning to taking advantage of the "Eye of the North" offer anyways, I'd recommend Factions.
The main selling point of NF is Heroes, which you'll also get a bunch in EOTN (and you get them quicker there too). The combination of Faction + EOTN gives better coverage on the more general purpose party setups that you can change your playstyles anytime. I also like the scenery much better in Factions (city/slums, gothic-style forest, sea of jade) than Nightfall (open plains, poisonous yellowsand deserts, endless darkred/black rocks), but this is to each person's preference. |

Depending upon total costs, etc., you may be better off just getting the Trilogy plus EotN. The prophecies part of the Trilogy won't add anything, but it won't hurt anything either.

You must add your new key to your existing account... that gives you 2 extra player slots, 1 extra pane in your storage and acces to the new campaign.
Personally i think it is worth buying them all... as mentioned before the trilogy + eotn may be best for you (this should give you 4 extra player slots + 2 extra storage panes). I think there should be enough webshops selling it (i have seen this package for 10 english pounds, and that is cheaper than buying 1 campaign (plus free eotn) in gw's online store. Sadly i cant find that shop back... i see one under 10 pounds but that one doesnt sell it anymore (out of stock) If i really have to choose, then i would pick factions... i love ritualists |

Just dont forget that factions is quiet different from Prophecies... at first i found it very frustrating (lots of popups and spikes), but nowadays it is my favorite campaign. However i suggest you start with EOTN, with one of your existing chars (you need to be level 10 or higher to enter EOTN)... its a nice expansion; it also gives you heroes (handy when there is noone to play with) and some really nice pve-only skills.
